Big blow as Al shabaab commmander in capital Mogadishu arrested on night raid by NISA officers.
The Somalia’s National intelligence and security agency (NISA) confirmed that it officers arrested a high ranking Al-Shabaab commander in Mogadishu.
NISA says it captured Hassan Fanah who during an operation in Mogadishu’s Kahda district on Sunday night.
NISA officers captured the senior Al-Shabaab commander along with 12 other fighters in an overnight raid on a safe house at Kahda district in Mogadishu. NISA posted the brief on the successful arrest on the agency Twitter feed.
Fanah, the captured militant leader had a bounty of $2,000 on his head. The assailant is believed to have planned several attacks on AMISOM and SNA in and outside Mogadishu.
Fanah is also believed to have shifted allegiance to ISIS branch in Somalia, in late 2015.
