Two al Shabaab members believed to be planning an assassination in the outskirts of Mogadishu have been arrested by Somali security forces. The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) acted on intelligence of an alleged assassination that led to the arrests of the two.
Following the arrests weapons- two pistols ad a hand grenade were recovered that the two were planning to use for the attack.
Al-Shabaab lost Mogadishu in 2011 after its fighters were defeated by Somali and AU troops. The group now controls remote areas in South and central Somalia but carries out attacks on SNA and AMISOM bases as well as explosions in major towns.
