Somali’s Intelligence NISA has said that have apprehended a suspect believed to have orchestrated the deadly Sahafi Hotel attack in Mogadishu earlier in November. In a statement, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) confirmed on Thursday that one of the masterminds of the triple bombings at Sahafi hotel had been detained during a covert operation in the capital.
Al-Shabaab fighters had attacked Sahafi Hotel by using a vehicle packed with explosives to blast their way into a major hotel. The attack that was immediately claimed by the Al-Qaeda affiliated al Shabaab killed over 50 people and injured dozens of others.
Sahafi hotel is a regular meeting place for very influential people in Mogadishu and is located at one of the busiest road intersections in Mogadishu that links the city’s seaport, airport, and Villa Somalia.
