Nigerian army complemented ground offensives with aerial assaults of the suspected Boko Haram’s illegal oil refineries in the Sambisa forest and also in the Niger Delta region.
The operation that began on Sunday will last for several days to wipe out Boko Haram in north eastern Nigeria.
The operation is targeted at destroying oil refineries and barges in the Delta and Rivers state along the Niger River. The destruction of militant's oil refineries is a big blow to the terror group economic lifeline.
Several suspected Boko Haram and Niger Delta militants have been arrested and weapons retrieved during the ground operations over the past weeks.
Casualties were also recorded on both sides, according to military BDA.
