Al-Shabaab financier of British origin, Natalie Webb escaped a police and intelligence officers dragnet in Shanzu area of Mombasa.
An operation led by NSIS officers, Flying Squad, the General Service Unit and the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit failed to capture Natalie Webb, wanted for funding Al-Shabaab.
Top police officers in the anti-terrorism police unit are very angry that Natalie Webb was able to escape shortly before police and intelligence officers arrested her.
Police believe that the British national was tipped off by someone in the police force to escape arrest.
NSIS operatives have been watching Natalie Webb’s house for days and every chance of arresting her was high.
A senior officer with the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit is being interrogated by officers from NSIS and CID over the incident which has embarrassed the force.
However, intelligence officers believe the suspect was tipped off by a senior officer with the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit.
Police recovered 60 rounds of AK-47 ammunition in Natalie Webb’s house which belongs to a wife of former terror mastermind Musa Hussein Abdi.
