The little known son of assassinated Al-Shabaab linked Sheikh Aboud Rogo, Mohamed Rogo has made contact with his fathers close allies, Strategic Intelligence confirms.
Mohamed Rogo is an active militant fighting alongside the Al-Shabaab in Kismayu where he serves as an explosives expert involved in the making of IED’s (improvised explosive devices).
Rogo may make his way back home to avenge his fathers death, he has been in-touch with his fathers close allies and proxies about his return and possible mobilization.
Intelligence gathered on Rogo show’s his communication with his fathers close confidants is very brief and less suspicious though questions he asks and the objective points to revenge.
The explosives expert and a well trained gunman, Mohamed Rogo is a young man in his early twenties with a scanty history but well known at the Masjid Musa mosque where his cleric father used to teach.
The string of bombings in Mombasa where grenades were used against civilian targets have been traced to Al-Shabaab militants who may have used Rogo as their cell operator.
Supply of grenades and guns used by militants in Mombasa is linked to Rogo’s network while the recruiting and taking young Kenyan youths to Somalia to fight for Al-Shabaab has been directly linked to him and the MYC Youth group.
