Strategic Intelligence Services warns there is a high possibility of a military coup in the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC and the Republic of Burundi
Various open-source intelligence reports backed up by recent events in the central Africa region confirm a bias of possible militia activity aided by political players to destabilize the region through a coup in DRC.
In Burundi, the political impasses factored by President Pierre Nkurunziza’s plan to contest a 3rd term may trigger a politically connected military coup.
According to Strategic Intelligence global intelligence services warn that there is a possibility of a military coup in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Burundi in early or mid 2015.
If such happens, the coup will draw the Great Lakes region into fresh interstate war with Uganda and Rwanda being key players.
Regional bodies must work together to stop this from happening, warns David James, Regional Director of Strategic Intelligence.
