Morocco’s Interior Ministry on Wednesday announced the dismantling of a cell which recruited young Moroccans to fight with the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.
The cell, which was based in the northern city of Fez was destroyed as confirmed by credible sources; the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation.
We are yet to confirm the exact number of recruits who have been arrested from the cell.
ISIS has been planning to launch assassination attacks against top civilians and military figures.
So far, close to 1500 Moroccans have voluntarily joined the Islamic militants; ISIS. These include young men and women who would have instead remained in Morocco to further develop the country.
Despite Morocco not suffering in the hands of the extremists as much as its neighbors, the country has continuously reported that they have dismantled networks recruiting volunteers to fight in Syria and Iraq.
