A man known as Maina Njenga who still wields immense power in the criminal sect Mungiki has been shot by gunmen in Nyahururu region of Central Kenya.
A small salon vehicle overtook Maina Njenga’s convoy of two vehicles at Suera area and opened fire on the vehicles killing four bodygaurds of the Mungiki leader.
The former overall leader of the dreaded Kikuyu dominated Mungiki sect survived the attempt on his life.
Almost all passengers serving as his bodyguards maybe dead after the two vehicles were sprayed with bullets.
The Mungiki leader has been transferred to Agha Khan hospital in Nyahururu while the others who sustained gunshot wounds are being treated at Nyahururu district hospital.
