Lamu, Garissa, Tana River, Residents And Health Facilities Cautioned Against Sympathizing And Offering Medicine To Al Shabaab

Linda Boni Operation Director Joseph Kanyiri has warned of a growing trend by health facilities, communities and other al Shabaab sympathizers in Lamu, Garissa and Tana River areas. He said that investigations have been launched into dispensaries and health facilities that have been aiding with medicines as well as treating injured terrorists running from the security officers.

Mr. Kanyiri cited an incident on November 26 last year where four cartons full of medicine, weighing more than 20kg, were found floating on the shores of the Indian Ocean in Shella. The drugs, he said, were being ferried secretly to Al-Shabaab before the suspects were discovered and they fled.

Kanyiri has warned sympathizers enabling al Shabaab terrorists in the mentioned regions with emphasis on 5 health facilities that have been providing the terrorists in Boni Forest with Medicare products.

Subsequently, Kanyiri maintained that while the Linda Boni Operation is working hard to ensure that the communities in the areas are safe, some residents have been helping the militants, feeding and even hiding them which the operation is on the verge of cracking. He warned sympathizers that those arrested will be treated as terrorists seeing as they have been undermining the security of innocent Kenyans.
