Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) officials have arrested an al Shabaab operative belonging to the deadly and elite intelligence wing of the terror organization called Amniyat. The suspected terrorist was nabbed during an operation conducted at Shibis district of Mogadishu.
The officials believe the unnamed figure was responsible for targeted attacks in Yaqshid and Heliwa districts of Mogadishu before his arrest. The operation comes just hours after a plane carrying senior member of al-Qaida linked group touched down in Mogadishu after he surrendered to the Somali government in Bardheere town in Gedo region.
Somali security agencies have intensified security operations in the capital for the past week since simultaneous attacks in the city claimed by al-Shabaab.
