Kenya’s security agents are on high alert following intelligence that Al-Shabaab is planning attacks.
According to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet on Tuesday, security agents received valuable intelligence that the Somali-based Al-Shabaab terrorists are regrouping along the Kenya-Somalia border in readiness to carry out attacks.
In a statement referenced by Kenyan Media, IG Boinnet said the terrorist group including ISIS is hatching a plot to carry out attacks on security personnel and installations as well as public service vehicles (PSVs) plying on the border counties such as Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Lamu.
Kenya security has since been heightened in readiness to avert and preempt any attacks. Equally members of the public called in to continue cooperating with security agencies in keeping the country safe.
To avoid detention, the terrorist group have resulted into splitting into smaller groups and entering the country on the porous border areas of Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Lamu.

IG Boinnet also noted ISIS an offshoot of Al-Shabaab is also targeting Kenyan youth for recruitment through online campaigns.
“Daesh, also known as ISIS is equally among our major concern…but elaborate efforts have been deployed to deal with the attempts of the group to indoctrinate our youths,” read the statement issued by the National Police Spokesman George Kinoti for IG Boinnet.
