A major manhunt has been launched in Lafey, Mandera in search of al Shabaab terrorists that orchestrated an attack at two security camps in Lino area. The early morning attack by the al Shabaab attack targeted Kenya and Administration police camps in Fino in an incident that claimed the lives of 4 officers and one reservist.
According to local police, a battalion of al Shabaab militants stormed the camps, destroying communication towers. The police in the camps held the militants at gunfire which resulted in the casualties before the terrorists fled.
Security officers in pursuit have been able to locate three missing officers alive and are in hot pursuit of the al Shabaab militants with the help of RBPU and other security agencies in the area.
The attack comes a few hours barely since police in Wajir arrest three al Shabaab militants part of a cell terrorizing residents and security officers in the region.
