- Wednesday 22nd July 2015; Kenya’s security officers working on intelligence were able to foil an Al Shabaab planned attack that targeted a prison’s vehicle near Mombasa.

Summary
Sheikh Ali was arrested in May of 2015. A search was conducted inside his Bondemi residence by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) and was able to discover plastic explosives and a hand grenade.
Kenya intelligence has been tracking closely on the proceedings of Al Shabaab’s local cells especially in the coastal region.
Al Muhajiroun group, a terror affiliate operating in East African had vowed not to leave their captured brothers in Mombasa, meaning they were making plans to escape them from custody.
Kenya security agencies remain on high terror alert for any occurrence from the militants. Security has been heightened across the country and more so when the country is expecting United States President Obama for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
