Al-Shabaab militants attacked a Kenyan military base in Somalia early Tuesday killing the commander of the Somali National Army in the Eel-addd territory, Mohamed Qojof.
A fierce battle erupted in Gedo between the Kenya army and the militant and terrorist group Al-Shabaab after the militants staged an attack on SNA and AMISOM bases.
Intelligence sources report that soldiers were killed in the clashes including the military chief of the Eel-addd territory, Mohamed Qojof.
Kenya Defense Forces working under AMISOM have been instrumental in securing the South and Western Somalia by killing thousands of militants, destroying their bases and training camps besides killing their sources of revenue.
The attack was a second in a row after another one last week in the region.
The militants staged an attack primarily a Somali National Army and AMISOM troops base in the Gedo region.
Kenya Defense Forces retaliated and engaged the militants in a fight that left many dead and injured.
