Kenya security forces continue to degrade Al-Shabaab militants who had set a base in the vast forest Boni.
According to the head of the operation, James Ole Serian, the operation launched nine months ago continues to record successes.
On Friday, Serian, noted that 10 Al-Shabaab militants have been killed and 36 other arrested by the Kenya security forces.
Operation Linda Boni forest wa launched on July 2015 with primary goal of eliminating an Al-Shabaab cell causing insecurity in villages in Lamu and neighboring the forest.
The foint army and police operation has seen the militant’s hideouts used by the Jaysh Ayman cell destroyed and assortment of weapons, IEDs recovered.
Al-Shabaab remains a huge threat in the coastal regions. In 2014, the Somalia based Al-Shabaab attacked Lamu and killed close to 100 people in Mpeketoni.
Kenya security agents have beefed up security in Lamu County and Lamu town, which is a popular tourist destination.
