The Kenya Government will workers with locals and area leaders to end the menace of insecurity, by flushing the extremist’s terrorist cells operating in Mandera county, northeastern prefecture.
According to NEP regional commissioner Nicodemus Ndalana, the government will enhance relationship with Mandera residents with the aim of improving security and curb terrorist attacks in the volatile region.
To combat the terrorists’ incidents that sporadically are perpetuated in upper and lower NEP Kenya, its paramount to come up with homegrown solution to enable timely sharing of human intelligence (HUMINT).
The regional commissioner acknowledged the good work being done by Special Forces whom he says are working tirelessly to ensure Mandera is secure and other counties of NEP.
Collaboration between security multi-agencies of the government, locals and area leaders is key towards defeating Al-Shabaab insurgents. On the other hand, relevant security enforcers urged not to ignore any intelligence from locals.
Training and strengthening of Kenya Police reservists (KPRs) also key towards bolstering security in affected areas.
For many years, the Al-Qaeda affiliate, Al-Shabaab has been recruiting youths in the frontier county of Mandera. Locals warned supporting the terrorist agenda of waging attacks in their region to avoid hurting the socio-economics of their respective areas/regions.
