
EVENT SUMMARY
Since the El Adde attack on KDF base by Al Shabaab, Kenya has sent more KDF troops to Somalia to bolster the ongoing offensive campaigns against the Al Qaeda affiliated jihadist group, the Al Shabaab.
This is according to a communication from the Chief of Defence Forces, General Samson Mwathethe that more soldiers have been deployed to boost the continuing planned operations.
Rescue and recovery operations and especially counter operations aimed at flushing Al Shabaab from their hideouts are priority in the recent deployment.
KDF from various regiments across the country were mobilized and sent to conduct operations in Al Shabaab bases El Adde and its surrounding localities in the Gedo region.
Military reports indicate the recent BDA since the new deployment has recorded success with KDF forces intensified bombardments destroying 26 Al Shabaab camps. Hundreds of militants have been killed in these operations conduct both on air and on ground.
KDF F-5 fighter jets and Z-9 gunship attack helicopters from the 50th Air-Cavalry battalion reportedly have bombed Al Shabaab bases in five towns near El Adde and Gedo town with precision.
KDF launched air offensives just two dayS after the attack on their base in which Abu Zubeir Brigade commander Maalim Janow believed to have led the El Adde was killed.
