Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) troops under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) drawn from various units successfully completed their one-year tour of duty in Kismayo setting ground for incoming troops.
Commandant Defense Forces Pay and Clerical Training School, Colonel Paul Kinduchimo on Tuesday, January 2020 flagged off the Kenyan troops for AMISOM IX tour of duty at Jomo Kenyatta International where he expressed his pride and confidence in the soldiers as they commence their mission in Somalia.

Colonel Kinduchimo later on Tuesday received KDF-AMISOM VIII troops who have completed their tour of duty having passed the baton to the incoming team at Kismayo.
Colonel congratulated them for serving diligently towards realization of peace in Somalia and wished them a safe rest and recuperation period.
Kenya is among AMISOM troops contributing countries battling extremists (Al-Shabaab and Islamic State) in Somalia. Others include, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Burundi and Uganda.


KDF handles sectors two and six of AMISOM, which are situated in Jubaland, a state of Somalia which borders Kenya. Since deployment, the troops have managed to capture a number of towns including the commercial city of Kismayo.
