Kenya Defense Forces in Somalia have continuously conducted successful operations in liberating Somalia from Al Shabaab militants, Al Mujahideen.
Counter-Terrorism operations in Somalia by the Kenya Defense Forces have seen the liberation of Kismayo, Shebelle’s port town of Barawe, and now Kuday among others in Somalia.
Kenyan military was the first country to carry out an amphibious landing at the base of Kismayo port. As part of the African Union Mission in Somalia, the Kenya Air Force on the other hand has performed successful aerial operations which have dismantled several Al Shabaab cells in Somalia.
Currently, most of the towns in which the Al Shabaab had captured are now bustling with life. Children playing around and business slowly picking up in towns are some of the signs of an on-coming total victory against the Al Shabaab.
Kuday in southern Somalia was one of AL Shabaab’s stronghold bases which they used to launch attacks. It also served as a key route for entry of illegal imports in the region.
Kuday was liberated from AL Shabaab on 22nd March 2015. It is currently populated with close to 3000 Somali residents who are slowly returning home.
The return of Somali refugees back to Kuday has further brough change, a month later after the liberation.
