Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) conducted precision airstrikes against target Berhani (40 miles south of the sea port of Kismayo, in Lower Juba Region of Somalia) in the morning (0000hrs EAT, Tuesday).
Military Intelligence battle damage assessment reports (BDA-R) show that the airstrikes targeted, with precision, operational ‘terrorists forward operating bases’, freshly supplied with new recruits and jihadists from the Al-Shabaab terror group headquarters of Jiliib.
- Human Intelligence (HUMINT) collected by SIS confirms the terrorist bases were completely decimated.
- That, the base was housing more than 200 fighters (freshly deployed in the base from Jiliib with heavy weaponry)
- High numbers of casualties/fatalities were independently confirmed by locals through HUMNIT assets.
The precision attack comes after military intelligence sources reported increased militant activity in both Juba and Gedo regions. These activities signal regrouping and tactical deployment to areas which can provide tactical advantage to the terror group.
The death toll of the killed Al-Shabaab terrorists is likely to go beyond 100.
