Six women originally from Malindi have been arrested by KDF personnel during a counter-terrorism operation that is currently ongoing in Mandera. The six women were nabbed at El Wak as they tried to cross the Kenya-Somalia border with the intent of joining the al Shabaab terror group.
Field intelligence indicates that they intended to join al Shabaab as either concubines of jihadists or to train as suicide bombers who would later be dispatched back to Kenya. All in all, the plan of these women to further their radicalization in Somalia was abruptly cut-short by KDF.
The successful operation has disrupted the flow of recruits to al Shabaab as well as dismantled a recruitment cell responsible for smuggling terror recruits across the Kenya-Somalia border at El Wak. Apart from reducing the number of terror recruits joining HSM, the KDF counter-terrorism operation also weakened al Shabaab in Mandera County besides denying the terror group human resources.
Al Shabaab is currently on the retreat after a series of battlefield defeats and territorial losses; and the terror group is now running short of both manpower and military resources. On the Kenyan Front, Al Shabaab has lost most of its terror cells after they were destroyed by Kenyan security forces.

That is good intelligence well done.
