Combined forces of Jubbaland and AMISOM lead joint operations and took over Tarako town which is about 50 kilometers west of Baardheere district, Gedo region.
The region has been under control of the Al Shabaab militants who wage their campaigns within the town and across the greater Gedo region.
The forces left Faafahduun last night; conducted joint operations that managed to capture the Tarako town that is strategic and an impediment in liberation of Baardheere district.
The successful operation was a morale booster for the forces ahead of the expected offensive on Baardheere which is among the last few major towns remaining under the control of the Al-shabaab militants.
