Israel has announced taking part in a multi-national intelligence taskforce dubbed Operation Gallant Phoenix and to be based in the Jordanian capital. The task force is to be conducted alongside Arab league members, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and UAE in order to quash the Islamic State group.
The task force is constituted of intelligence personnel and special units from 21 countries, who are sharing intelligence information related to the militant organization. Also, the force includes officers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE and Egypt working alongside Israel, the US, the UK, France, Italy, and others. Operation Gallant Phoenix, the international force is the first ever public show of military cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Israel’s participation in the multi-national force alongside the Arab countries serves as recognition of Tel Aviv’s ability to provide accurate and important intelligence. Therefore, Jordan has been selected as a strategic host for the taskforce seeing as she has played a key role in helping fight ISIS in neighboring Syria. The task force is a welcome effort that will help finish off ISIS as well as ensure that it does not regroup or resurface in the region or elsewhere.
