The Islamic State in Libya has accused the Al Qaeda affiliated Al Shabaab of killing members who decamped their faction and pledged baya’h (allegiance) to Islamic State threatening they fight to establish foothold in Somalia.
ISIS latest video release titled ‘A message to our brothers in Somalia’ is directed to the Somali based jihadist group is calling on Al-Shabaab fighters to pledge allegiance to Islamic State.
Speaking fluently in English, one of the fighters, most likely of Somali origin, urges people in his homeland to turn against Al-Shabaab and join a small number of ISIS fighters who have rebelled against Al-Shabaab and are now fighting for ISIS.
But in a quick rejoinder the Al-Shabaab affiliated al Muhajiroun issued a warning statement to ISIS terrorist.
Al-Muhajiroun warned the small faction threatening unity of the Al-Qaeda linked group in Somalia of severe consequences and vowed to remain loyal to their parent jihadist group, the Al-Qaeda.
Al-Muhajiroun is based in Kenya and Tanzania and the statement warning to ISIS operatives in East Africa was issued in Tanga, Tanzania.
