Islamic State also known as ‘Daesh’ terrorist group has confirmed the death of a senior commander in the battle field.
According to a brief on pro-militant group’s Amaq news agency, Omar al-Sishani was killed in clashes around Mosul in Iraq.
In March, the U.S. Defense Department confirmed Sishani’s death. On March 4, a U.S. airstrike near the northeastern Syrian town of Shadadi targeted Sishani.
Also killed in the airstrike was a Syrian-based Georgian national Omar Checheni alias Tarkhan Tayumurazovich Batirashvili.
Omar Checheni was considered a top Daesh leader by the U.S. whereby a reward of up to $5 million dollars was offered for information about his whereabouts.
