The Federal State of Jubaland, a semi-autonomous state of restive Somalia held Presidential elections and elected Ahmed Madobe (Ahmed Mohamed Islam) as the leader with a landslide. President Madobe won the 1st round of the regional parliamentary vote after garnering 56 votes of the 74 votes cast by the parliament. Anab Mohamed Dahir came second with 17 votes. Modabe won with more than two thirds of the vote.
Madobe is popular in the region, particularly with the locals. Locals applauds his efforts to bring peace and stability in areas under control of his forces. Officially, Madobe has been re-elected ending months of Farmaajo led political warfare and foreign interference. He will be serving his 3rd term as president of the State that border the republic of Kenya.
Madobe won with a landslide. 3 Contestants boycotted the election though they were unknown even to local politicians. The opposition which is sponsored by FGS in Mogadishu claim they have elected Abdirashid Hiddig as President, an event that will certainly culminate into a political conflict.
