Wednesday 26th May 2016, Iraqi forces extended control on areas around the Islamic State-held city of Fallujah in Anbar province.
In the part of the ongoing offensives, Iraqi forces continue to flush out the extremist militants from the city.
Security forces, together with Shiite and Sunni paramilitary units, known as Hashd Shaabi, made a significant progress in west of Fallujah, some 50 kilometers west of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
The troops supported by Iraqi warplanes cleared large areas of Albu Bali and Albu Ubied after heavy fight with the Islamic State fighters.
The forces have taken control of Sajar area, Albu Eifan, Albu Hawa and al-Hesi all clse to Fallujah.
Security forces offensives to the west of Fallujah left at least 17 Islamic State militants killed, five vehicles destroyed while four security forces also perished in the fight.
