The Al-Qaeda linked Harakat Shabaab claimed to have killed over 80 Somali soldiers and AMISOM soldiers in a raid that targeted SNA military camp in Afgooye.
In their pro websites, Shabaab through their spokesman claimed the Friday 10:30 a.m. local time raid on SNA camp saying it killed over eighty government soldiers. The militants also claimed responsibility of briefly seizing control over Balad, a town outside the capital Mogadishu.
Though Shabaab exaggerates number of casualties when they conduct an attack, several Burundi soldiers are feared dead after Somali militant group Al-Shabaab ambushed a convoy near the Middle Shabelle town of Bal’aad.
The ambush targeted AMISOM-Burundian soldiers escorting a convoy of trucks loaded with supplies near Balad, 30 kilometers north of Mogadishu. The convoy was attacked using RPGs.
