Shooting at Cote d'Ivoire's Grand Bassam beach resort
GRAND BASSAM, Cote d'Ivoire, March 14, 2016
Latest crime reports indicate that gunmen have stormed a popular Cote d’Ivoire Beach Resort killing at least 14 civilians.
According to Cote d'Ivoire police report, the gunmen stormed beach resort of Grand Bassam late Sunday. Security forces immediately responded, cordoned off the crime scene.
Cote d’Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara visited the site where the six attackers who carried out the attack were killed by security officers.
Grand Bassam is popular with both locals and western tourists. It is located some 40 kilometers east of the commercial hub of Abidjan.
No group has claimed responsibility of the attack though some media outlets report Al Qaeda’s North African branch was responsible for the heinous act. Police investigation is underway.
