February 9th 2016: The military chiefs of the armed forces of the countries that comprise the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) are holding a meeting in Luanda, Angola.
The ICGLR comprises Angola, Burundi, CAR, Congo, DRC, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
The meeting is aimed at assessing the current situation of security, peace, defence and humanitarian aid in the member countries especially those that have conflicts like Burundi CAR and South Sudan.
The meeting precedes a meeting by Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs to discuss matter the organization and foster solutions to the respective challenges and conflicts.
The peace and stability of Burundi is expected to headline the meeting with the primary aim of establishing platforms for dialogue to end the senseless killings and violence in Burundi especially the capital Bujumbura.
