The governor for Puntland’s Nugal region, Abdisalan Hassan Gu’jir and former regional police boss succumbed to injuries following a suicide attack in Garowe. The A suicide bomber blew himself up at Garowe police station on Sunday evening, wounding top regional officials.
The al Shabaab suicide bomber blew himself near the vehicle transporting the governor at the police station. The al Shabaab have since claimed responsibility for the attack and have reiterated that the group would continue its onslaught despite the current Corona Virus pandemic.
Al Shabaab has been steadily showing their might and daredevil-ness in attacks that despite reducing in number of increased in their precision and targets high level members of both the national and state governments as well as security apparatus.
