The missing government nurse feared to have been kidnapped by Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab was found on Saturday afternoon unscathed .
It was feared the terrorists had kidnapped the health official after he could not be traced hours after the attack.
The attack happened at night on Friday 21st June 2019 targeted Rural Border Patrol Unit (RBPU) station in Yumbis, Fafi subcounty, Garissa. The terrorists also destroyed the telecommunications base transmission station (BTS) belonging to Safaricom Ltd in the same area.
Northeastern regional commissioner Mohamed Birik without giving much details confirmed that the nurse whose identity was concealed was found on Saturday afternoon unhurt.
Birik lauded the four officers who responded to the night attack swiftly and repulsed them. He added that the enemy suffered three fatalities during the incident while no security personnel was injured in the operation.
The last three weeks have seen the terrorists heighten their activities in the northeastern Kenya region as they target border towns before escaping back to Somalia.
