Gen. Mohammed Farid el-Tohamy has retired as Egypt’s top spy, after President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi ordered he retire.
President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi awarded his mentor and longtime friend one of the state’s highest awards on Sunday.
Gen. Mohammed Farid el-Tohamy is in his mid 60s and is suffering from bad health, intelligence officials report.
The Egyptian president has already named a replacement for the retired General who was brought out retirement by the military backed government.
