Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Julius Karangi on Monday hang his boots on his 42 years military career that has been characterized with major milestones especially his tenure as CDF.
The handover ceremony was at the Defence Headquarters in a very colorful ceremony where he handed over to the incoming CDF Gen. Samson Mwathethe.
Gen Karangi retired with good news to the Kenya Defence Forces promising the force a salary increment, and a comprehensive medical cover. This is very blissful news for the soldiers who are always at the crossfire lines in their quest to protect the nation.
The increments are expected to take effect as of July 1st this year, this increment is procedural seeing as the last one was in 2011.
Gen Karangi thanked the soldiers in their tirelessness and devotion in maintaining law and order and more especially in the fight against terrorists both within the borders and in Somalia.
The Kenya Defence Forces under Gen Karangi has achieved great milestones among them scattering the Al-Shabaab and conquering their strongholds. Coordination among all the three arms of the Army has been witnessed and reestablished the Kenya Defence as among the top militaries in Africa.
