French’s interior minister Gerard Collomb has announced that at least 20 terror attacks were averted in the year 2017. In an interview, he said, “Twenty attacks have been foiled in France in 2017. We must be vigilant everywhere. There is no territory, today, where we can say that the risk is non-existent.”
France and larger Europe have become prone to terror attacks from groups based in the Middle East mainly because of the large number of migrants who include terrorists who masquerade as refugees. Moreover, the cases of radicalization and recruitment are on the rise which has increased domestic terrorism in European countries.
France remains on high alert since the 2015 attacks and has been the target of several other deadly terror assaults during the last two years, despite a state of emergency which was extended several times and put to an end on Nov. 1, 2017.
