Former Al-Shabaab leader and the current Federal Minister in-charge of Religion Affairs, Mukhtar Robow Ali Abu Mansoor urged the people of Somalia to unite with the government security assets in the fight against the Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist group that has persistently waged assaults inside the country for close to two decades.
According to Robow, it’s a duty for the Somalia citizens to unite against the common enemy that is determined in destabilizing the Somalia government besides causing immense deaths on security operatives, civilians besides destruction of their property. Minister Robow went on to say that everyone should defend themselves and their property by collaborating and work together to defeat Al-Shabaab.
He lauded the residents of Hiiraan and Galmudug regions for their successes in recent battles against the Islamist terrorists.
Robow speaking on a state-run Somali National TV, with other religious leaders on Sunday night, condemned the attack on Hayat, which left at least 21 people killed and 117 others wounded. Al-Shabaab terrorists raided Mogadishu’s Hayat Hotel on Friday evening in an assault that started with twin blasts from suicide bombers.
The siege took more than 30 hours after joint troops from SNA and ATMIS took up positions on the hotel’s upper level with casualties from Al-Shabaab operatives being reported. Robow, a founding member of the Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group, noted that Al-Shabaab leaders exploit vulnerable and impressionable youth while securing a good life for their families.
“Al-Shabaab youth, you are being duped by your leaders. Their children are enrolled in schools and universities in Hamar (Mogadishu), or they are living a comfortable life abroad. Don’t let them deceive you, “Mukhtar Robow stated in the televised religious programme.
