Latest media reports from Somalia indicate that foreign attack helicopters on Wednesday evening attacked a village near Jilib, an Al-Shabaab stronghold.
The warplanes thought to belong to U.S. military are reported to have conducted aerial bombardments near an Al-Shabaab makeshift camp in Middle Jubba region of southern Somalia. Dozens militants believed to be new recruits training were killed in the air raids.
Corresponding reports from open sources say the American warplanes raided an Al-Shabaab camp in a small village identified as Kumbarera, which lies about 20 kilometers west of Jilib district, the biggest Al-Shabaab stronghold in the whole of Somalia.
U.S. and Kenyan warplanes have been conducting aerial attacks targeting Al-Shabaab camps which have left hundreds of Al-Shabaab fighters, recruits and senior commanders killed.
