Kenya’s Foreign Affairs ministry evacuated hundreds of Kenyans from Yemen which is in a state of civil conflict.
More than 300 Kenyans were evacuated on two flights booked by the Foreign Affairs ministry, in co-ordination with Kenya’s security organs.
Most of the Kenyans who had been living in Yemeni for decades were forced to run back to Kenya for safety to escape the indiscriminate bombings that have resulted in mass casualties and displacements.

The Foreign Affairs ministry met the Kenyan war victims, mostly from the coastal region, at the Omani border and territory.
The Kenyan High Commission at Yemeni’s border with Oman, and the Foreign Affairs ministry prepared temporary travel documents for the Kenyan war victims that were fleeing Yemeni, with which they safely travelled back in the country.
An estimated 300 Kenyans have made it back to the country, and others are still streaming in, with the help of the Foreign Affairs ministry.
At Oman, they make their temporary camp as the Kenyan High Commission co-ordinates with the Kenyan Foreign Affairs ministry to make hasty arrangements for them to get in Kenya as quickly as possible to flee the warring Yemeni.
Yemeni has been is a state of civil conflict for five years but the fighting intensified with increased airstrikes that were launched by Saudi led coalition mid last year.
