Finland has called on Somali refugees to return to their home country Somalia citing large refugee number in Dadaab camp as a huge burden for Kenya.
Finland which has a string economy has tightened restrictions to asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia.
Finland maintains Somalis need to return to Somalia saying the country is now largely safe.
Kenya continues to suffer blows from terror attacks planned in the world largest camp, Dadaab and conducted by transnational terrorists.
Kenya maintains on closing the northeastern Dadaab refugee camp citing financial constraints and security challenge posed by Al-Shabaab terrorists responsible for large scale attacks in the country.
Dadaab host nearly half a million Somali refugees while in Kakuma refugee camp its home to nearly 200,000 refugees.
Somalia has been battling with militancy, civil war for more than two decades but since the entrants of an AU peacekeeping force, several towns, regions and localities have been pacified and considered safe for Somali refugees return.
Finland’s centre-right coalition government – which includes nationalist Finns party – has tightened its immigration policies since the influx of asylum seekers last year.
