The Sunday Al Shabaab attack on Sahafi hotel in Mogadishu claimed the life of a prominent military general, Abdikarim Dhagabadan.
Monday 2nd November the former military chief was laid to rest. Hundreds of upset family members, fellow officers turned up at the funeral in central Somalia.
On his tribute, Somalia’s defense minister Abdiqadir Ali Dini praised General Abdikarim Dhagabadan as a fallen hero who dedicated his energies in eliminating the enemy in Somalia.
The military chief led anti-Al Shabaab offensives that saw the militants suffer huge losses losing significant areas and strongholds.
The 55 years old Dhagabadan spent considerable years of his life serving in the army, working prudently and with determination in making sure Somalia is liberated off the Al Shabaab menace.
His fellow comrades concurred and described him as ‘dedicated’ military commander who did not relent despite personal risks in the battlefield matched on together with his fellow officers.
The Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab’s gunmen shot the general inside the Sahafi hotel in a well planned attack in Mogadishu.
Al Shabaab group claimed the responsibility for the attack on the hotel.
Despite losing key of their strongholds, Al Shabaab sporadically conduct attacks on Somali governmemt as well as African Union troops.
Somali’s NISA, Special Forces in a joint operation with AMISOM troops ended the Sunday siege by killing all Al Shabaab terrorists who raided Sahafi Hotel in Mogadishu Somalia using SVBIED and guns.
