Facebook has announced that it has taken down nearly two million posts related to terrorism and radical views and propaganda related to terrorism before they were reported by users.
Facebook said in a report, that it took action against 1.9 million posts containing Islamic State, al-Qaida, and related terrorism propaganda before users reported them in the first quarter of this year. Some 99.5 percent of the terrorism-related content was flagged by artificial intelligence technology.
The report further said that the increased enforcement was due to improvements in data technology including “using photo-matching” to match photos “previously marked as disturbing.
Terror organization like al Qaeda, al Shabaab, and ISIS have used social media as a key avenue for propaganda and recruitment from across the globe and as such the taking down of post that advance there is a big win in the campaign against terrorism in the world.
