The European Union EU Naval Force (Eunavfor) has created a new naval mission, a third one, to combat piracy and insecurity in the Indian Ocean and Horn of Africa region.
Intelligence reports by Global Intelligence Report by SIN shows that EU Naval Force (Eunavfor) will engage in active fighting against all maritime piracy and security threats in the Indian Ocean and off the Horn of Africa coasts.
This means the rules of engagement will change from mere peace keeping, surveillance, and escort to active engagement of enemy crafts in active combat with the objective of destroying the enemy capabilities.
European Union (EU) Naval Force (Eunavfor) has two missions Eunavfor Atalanta (maritime surveillance) and EUTM Somalia (military training) for the Indian Ocean and Horn of Africa maritime security operations.
EU Naval Force will closely work with the Djiboutian Maritime Capacity Operations Center which was opened on June 23rd.
Intelligence reports confirms that EU NAVFOR ships will be conducting exercises in the coming weeks with the Djiboutian Navy and Coast Guard.
