Ethiopian forces fighter jets on Tuesday 22nd September conducted raids in Baidoa, Bay region in southern Somalia, targeting Al-Shabaab militants’ hideouts.
Baidoa is a city in the south-central Bay region of Somalia. It is situated 256 kilometers by road northwest of the national capital Mogadishu.
The Minister for rehabilitation of militia and other armed groups Hassan Mohamed said the offensive was targeted at key militant bases in Labaatan Jirow settlement, 60km from Baidoa, headquarters of Baay region.
Dozens of Al Shabaab militants were confirmed dead in the raid that also destroyed key militant cells in the region. The cell which were at an advanced stage would have causes a lot of harm in the case of a militant attack.
Ethiopian helicopters destroyed militants’ facilities and training bases and it succeeded in its mission to weaken the group’s strength in Baidoa.
