Event: On Monday 18th May 2015, a half company of Ethiopian Defense Forces and a unit of their border police crossed their border and entered to Kenya.
They took strategic positions outside a Kenyan police station manned by 9 Kenyan police officers, took photographs of the border area then left.
The event has been widely viewed as an aggressive act by analysts.
Analysis and Actual Scenario
Kenya Military officials pointed out that the New Demarcation of border line by Ethiopian and Kenyan Civil Servants is itself the starting point to any analysis on this event.
Ethiopia is one of Kenya’s closest neighbor and defense partner. The Kenya army views ENDF as partners and not likely to conduct hostile actions on the republic of Kenya.
The Directorate of Kenya Military Intelligence reports that ENDF and their border police came into Kenya to take a look at the new demarcation beacons since thats the Construct in Ethiopia.
In fact friendly neighbors have no reason to serve defense protocols in the event of a a half-Coy straying to the others territory.
