Ethiopian Air Force attack helicopters on January 24, 2019 is reported to have hit an Al-Shabab base in Burr Haybe, about 75 kilometers east of Baidoa town, Somalia, killing 35 fighters of the Al-Qaeda linked extremists.
According to the information the Ministry of Defense of Ethiopia dispatched the state broadcaster – ETV, the air raid was made last Friday and lasted for about 44 minutes.
The statement further indicates
that Abdu Osman, Al-Shabaab head of in the attacked area, and Abduselam, the
head of the explosive team were killed during the chopper raid.
Four vehicles were also destroyed of which one was carrying explosives, according the report, which also stated that five caliber weapons were also destroyed.
The strike comes barely ten days after the Ethiopian forces foiled an Al-Shabaab attack that targeted their convoy in Buur Hakaba in Somalia’s southern Bay Region.
