Egyptian forces arrived in Sudan, in preparation for the launch of the joint military exercise ‘Protectors of the Nile’ to confront any possible threats, according to media reports.
Final Preparations for the launch of the joint Sudanese-Egyptian military training exercise titled “Nile Protectors”, and scheduled to take place in Sudan between May 26 and 31 of this year have been completed Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported on May 21.
Egyptian forces arrived at Khartoum Air Base alongside large columns of ground forces and vehicles that arrived earlier by sea. This military exercise is an extension of the joint training cooperation between the two countries aimed at exchanging military expertise, enhance cooperation, besides unifying working methods to address the expected threats to the two countries.




Last month (April), the Egyptian Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid and Sudanese counterpart Mohamed Othman al-Hussein attended the conclusion of joint air exercises that was dubbed “Nile Eagles 2” held in Sudan. The air forces of the two countries showcased military mimic maneuvers including missions of interception and defense, attack operations against targets in the depth, in defense of vital targets and a simulation of storming terrorist hideouts by use of multirole fighter jets.
