KEY HIGHLIGHT, EgyptAir Flight MS181 HIJACKED
An EgyptAir Flight MS181 from Alexandria to Cairo was on Tuesday 29th March 2016 and hijackers order to be diverted to Land in Cyprus, state radio has reported.
According to a spokeswoman for the airline, the flight was destined for Cairo from Alexandria and 81 people were on board.
Initial report indicates that at least one man thought to be armed. The hijacking occurred in Cyprus's flight information region and the airliner was diverted to Larnaca International Airport.
According to reports by Bloomberg, EgyptAir Flight MS181 has landed safely at Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus and airport authority has since closed and all flights, diverting elsewhere.
Reports indicated the hijacker was wearing a suicide vest. Airport Police officers were asked to back off from the aircraft.
Hijacker released all passengers except for the cabin crew and four other foreigners.
Finally the EgyptAir hijacker surrenders, Cyprus state TV has reported.
The hijacker emerged from the aircraft with his hands in the air, state TV said.
