Mohamed Badie, leader of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood has been sentenced to death by an Egyptian court.
The sentence also netted 13 other senior members of the group for inciting chaos and violence, and gave a life term to a US- Egyptian citizen for ties to the Brotherhood. The court also jailed 36 other citizens for life.
Removal of President Mohammed Morsi in 2013 has seen to violence that led to hundreds of people being sentenced to death in a crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood. So far, one death sentence has been carried out.
Muslim Brotherhood leaders have been charged with encouraging members of the group to confront the state and spread chaos following the dispersal of protests that followed the ousting of Morsi.
