Egypt has received the final shipment of 101 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles from the United States a delivery that completes an Excess Defense Articles grant of 930 MRAPs.
The Egyptian side transported the vehicles from the Sierra Army Depot in California. The deal between the US and is comprehensive with intelligence revealing that Egypt has ordered an additional 1000 more MRAPs. The total case value for the 2 000 MRAPs is estimated to be $120 million.
The transfer comprises assorted types of MRAPs including M1232 RG33L (baseline RG33), M1233 RG33L (Heavy Armored Ground Ambulance – HAGA), M1237 RG33 Plus (with additional armor), M1220 Caiman, and M1230 Caiman Plus vehicles, as well as MRAP Recovery Vehicles. Training is included in the package and is ongoing and scheduled in accordance with the Egyptian land forces needs and requests.
